Animal Control Officer

The Animal Control Officer is appointed and supervised by the Select Board

Mission Statement

  • Enforce dog related bylaws, including the leash law and the registration and licensing bylaws.
  • Investigate complaints, follow up on unlicensed dogs; determine violations of dog-related bylaws; maintain a log of complaints; issue bylaw tickets; attend dog hearings, as required.
  • Pick up and transport stray and unleashed dogs; feed and shelter dogs; attempt to locate owners and bring complaints against owners of dogs not licensed. Destroy or cause to be destroyed, dogs that are maimed, injured or diseased.

Avoid the late fee  ----  March 31st is the last day to register your dog and avoid the $15.00 per dog late fee . The license fee is $5 if the dog is spayed or neutered and $10 for a male or female. Dog owners may register by mail.The registration request must be accompanied by a self addressed stamped envelope. Please provide proof of current rabies vaccination unless already on file at the Town Clerk's office
